Gas problems in Karachi, Hyderabad or Quetta usually fall into three kinds. Something is unsafe right now. Something is wrong with the bill. Or something at home needs a visit, like a weak flame or a dead meter. SSGC handles each one a little differently, so the first job is to pick the right door.
This guide lists the official SSGC numbers, the written complaint routes, the time SSGC says each complaint type should take, and what to do if nothing moves. Every number below is taken from SSGC's own website.
| Your problem | Best first contact | SSGC's own target time |
|---|---|---|
| Gas smell, leak, fire or a damaged line | Call 1199 at once | Overhead leak 2 to 3 hours; line rupture 1 to 2 hours |
| Low pressure from a meter or regulator fault | 1199 or your zone office | 24 to 36 hours |
| Excessive or wrong bill | Web complaint form or a Customer Facilitation Center | Within 15 days of your request |
| Meter reading issue | Customer Facilitation Center | 3 working days |
| Bill not received | Customer Facilitation Center | 30 days |
| Meter does not pass gas | 1199 or your zone office | 2 days (5 working days after dues are cleared, if any are pending) |
| Gas cut off for non-payment | Pay, then ask for reconnection | 24 hours after the dues are cleared |
Times come from SSGC's "Complaint Types and Estimated Resolution" page, which it publishes with reference to the Petroleum Division's Ease of Doing Business work.
Step one: the numbers to save

For written help, SSGC lists two official WhatsApp numbers: 0330-3999179 and 0330-3999178. WhatsApp is handy when you want to send a photo of the bill or the meter.

SSGC's "Important Numbers" page has many more local lines, such as Kotri, Badin, Thatta, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Sibi, Mastung and Hub. Check it for your own town.
Step two: say it in a way SSGC can act on
Most delays happen because the complaint is missing a detail. Keep these ready before you call or write:
- Your Customer Number. It is printed on your SSGC bill. The web complaint form marks it as required.
- Your meter number. It helps when the problem is at the meter or regulator.
- Your full address and city. Field staff need it to find the house.
- A phone number and email. SSGC uses these to follow up.
- One clear line about the problem. For example, "Flame is very weak since Monday, only in our house."
Always ask for a complaint number and write it down with the date. You will need it if you escalate later.
Step three: choose phone, web or counter
By phone. Use 1199 for anything urgent. Use your zone or regional number for local follow-up.
On the website. SSGC has a "Complaints/Feedback" form on ssgc.com.pk. It asks for customer type (domestic, commercial or industrial), customer number, meter number, name, address, city, email, phone and your message. This is a good choice for bill disputes, because it leaves a written record.
In person. SSGC runs Customer Facilitation Centers (CFCs). Take your latest bill with you. Some of the listed centers are:
- Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi: 021-99333816, near SSGC Karachi Terminal, opposite Safari Park
- Nazimabad, Karachi: 021-99260172, Block H, North Nazimabad, near Hyderi Market
- Saddar, Karachi: 021-32790927, Lines Area near Hashmani Eye Hospital, M.A. Jinnah Road
- Latifabad, Hyderabad: 022-3865903, Unit No. 2
- Sukkur City: 071-5623030, State Life Building, Minara Road
- Quetta Regional Office / Cantt: 081-9203933, Samungli Road
The full list of 23 centers, including Malir, Defence, Korangi, Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah and Larkana, is on SSGC's Customer Facilitation Centers page.
Step four: bill complaints need their own approach
A high or wrong SSGC bill is a billing complaint, not an emergency. SSGC says excessive billing and wrong billing complaints should be settled within 15 days of your request. If you think the reading is wrong, you can ask for a special meter reading. SSGC's target for that visit is 3 working days.
While you wait, check whether you can pay the undisputed part or use a plan. Our SSGC installment guide explains the options. To see how slabs and taxes push the total up, read SSGC tariff, taxes and slabs.
Step five: when SSGC does not fix it
If you have complained to SSGC and still have no relief, you can go to the regulator, OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority). OGRA's Consumer Affairs Department hears complaints against both gas companies, SSGC and SNGPL.
Here is how it works, according to OGRA:
- You file the complaint with OGRA's Registrar, using the online complaint system on ogra.org.pk or the complaint form.
- The Registrar sends it to a Designated Officer. These officers sit in Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Multan and Peshawar.
- The officer gets a report from SSGC and can hold a hearing where both sides speak.
- OGRA says decisions are usually reached within 90 days.
Attach your SSGC complaint number, copies of the bills and any letters. That shows you tried SSGC first.
