BillHelp Browser Extension — Privacy Policy

This policy covers the "BillHelp: Electricity Bill Check (Pakistan)" browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. BillHelp.pk is an unofficial website. It is not connected to WAPDA, PITC or any electricity company.

What the extension sends

When you check a bill, or when the daily reminder check runs for a bill you saved, the extension sends only two things to billhelp.pk over a secure (HTTPS) connection:

  • the electricity company you chose (for example MEPCO), and
  • the reference number or customer ID you typed.

billhelp.pk uses these to get your bill from the electricity company and sends back the bill summary (amount, due date, paid status, bill month, units and recent months). This includes the consumer name printed on the bill. Your address, CNIC and phone number are never sent to the extension.

What is stored, and where

  • Saved bills (company, reference number, your label such as "Home", and whether reminders are on) are stored in your browser's extension storage. If you are signed in to browser sync, your browser may sync them across your own devices.
  • Last result for each bill is stored only on your device, so you can see it when you are offline.
  • On billhelp.pk's server, a bill result is kept in a short-term cache (up to 6 hours) to reduce load. Server logs do not keep your reference number in readable form; it is stored only as a one-way hash, together with a hashed IP address, for security and rate limiting.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
  • The extension has no ads, no tracking and no analytics.
  • The extension does not read your browsing history or the pages you visit. It only connects to billhelp.pk.
  • We do not use your data for anything except showing your bill and your reminders.
  • Notifications are only bill reminders (3 days before the due date, on the due date, and when the bill shows as paid). They never contain promotions.

Permissions

  • storage: to keep your saved bills and last results.
  • alarms: to run one bill check a day for saved bills that have reminders on.
  • notifications: to show your due-date and paid reminders.
  • Access to billhelp.pk: to get the bill summary. No other website is accessed.

How to delete your data

  • Click ✕ next to a saved bill to delete it and its last result.
  • Click 🔔 to turn reminders off for a bill.
  • Uninstall the extension to delete everything it stored on your device.
  • Server cache entries expire on their own within 6 hours.
