Visiting a KWSC Customer Response Center (CRC) enables consumers to resolve critical infrastructural and administrative water-utility issues.Below is the detailed overview of key public services being provided at all physical zonal centers in Karachi:
-
Billing Dispute Corrections & Arrear Adjustments: If your KWSC monthly water bill contains erroneous meter readings, wrong late payment penalties, duplicate charges or accumulated arrears from previous occupants of the property, you can submit a formal audit request. For faster reconciliation, submit your recent paid receipts together with your 10 to 13 digit Consumer ID to the Revenue Officer at your local CRC.
-
Change of Name / Ownership Transfer on Invoices: When you purchase a new residential or commercial property in karachi, the name on utility bills has to be changed. Submission of copy of Sale Deed, Title Deed, Sub-Registrar allotment letter, CNIC copy of new owner and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the zonal office ensure smooth transfer of billing records.
-
New Water Supply & Sewerage Line Connections: If you are a property developer or a homeowner planning to build a house or a commercial plaza you must apply for official KWSC connections. New Water Supply & Sewerage Line Connections require that you submit an application to KWSC before you start construction. The zonal engineers conduct feasibility studies of the structural lines, check the nearest main distribution pipelines, assess the required diameter for connection (0.5 inch, 0.75 inch, 1 inch or bulk commercial diameter) and make formal demand notes for connection charges.
- Tax Exemption and Property Removal NOC Certificates: Owners need to acquire a clear ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from KWSC before any property transfer, registry approval or demolition of buildings for redevelopment. The revenue division shall certify that there are no pending municipal water dues or sewerage maintenance taxes due against the property plot number.
-
Water Quality & Contamination Complaint Filling: Citizens may make an urgent technical complaint if the tap water in their homes is discolored, muddy or contaminated because of cross-pipe seepage between water and sewerage lines. Field engineering teams are sent from the nearest zonal office to identify line defects and take water samples for analysis in laboratories.
-
Water Tanker Booking Assistance (OTS System): In times of water shortage or when the pipeline pressure falls citizens can reserve an official KWSC Online Tanker Service (OTS) at selected zonal centers or through the official mobile application. The deliveries are subsidised at prices and are bound by official government tariffs.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Apply for a New KWSC Water Connection
Getting a water and sewerage connection in Karachi requires following the rules set by the Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation Act. Use this step‑by‑step guide to obtain a KWSC Water Connection without delays:
-
Step 1 — Obtain Application Form: Download the Water & Sewerage Connection Application Form (Form‑A for Residential, Form‑B for Commercial), from the official portal or pick it up at your nearest KWSC Zonal Office.
-
Step 2 — Collect the Documents: Prepare the file having an attested CNIC copy of the Property Owner. To prove the identity of owner CNIC copy is important. Keep the CNIC safe until the step. Attested copy of sale deed/lease deed/allotment letter. Approved Building Plan (SBCA / Sindh Building Control Authority sanctioned layout). Please provide a copy of paid water bills from your neighbors so we can see how the lines are routed.
-
Step 3 — Field Inspection by Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE): Once you submit your application the AEE will send a survey team to your site. This team will check the plot dimensions measure how far the plot is from the main line and make sure the right line diameter is available.
-
Step 4 — Issuance and Payment of Demand Note: If the technical inspection goes well KWSC will create a Bank Demand Note. This Bank Demand Note will include the costs, for road‑cutting restoration fees, connection charges and your initial security deposit. The Demand Note will list all road‑cutting restoration fees and connection charges that KWSC will charge, plus the security deposit that you must pay.
-
Step 5 — Physical Piping Execution & Meter Installation: Take your paid Demand Note receipt to the zonal engineer. Licensed plumbers from KWSC will then do the work to tap the line, from the supply pipe. After the work is done the plumbers will give you your 10 to 13-digit Consumer ID / Account Number.
