Standards for Water Testing & Filtration
Clean drinking water for the sprawling metropolis of Lahore is a high health priority. WASA operates specialized central laboratories and localized monitoring units to test groundwater quality extracted via deep tubewells.
Clean Water Supply Initiatives
Because shallow groundwater in Lahore is subject to contamination, WASA extracts water from deep underground aquifers (over 600–700 feet deep) using high-capacity tubewells equipped with automatic chlorination dosing pumps.
Filter Plant Network
WASA manages hundreds of community Clean Drinking Water Filtration Plants (RO and Ultra-Filtration) situated across residential neighborhoods to provide free, purified drinking water to the public.
Reporting Tap Water Contamination
If tap water at your property appears dirty, foul-smelling, or discolored, it typically indicates a cross-contamination leak between old underground water supply lines and nearby sewage pipelines. Take immediate action:
- Stop using tap water for cooking or drinking purposes.
- Call 1334 immediately and state: "Cross-contamination / Dirty Water Supply."
- WASA water testing teams will visit the site to collect water samples and conduct field chlorination tests.
- Emergency repair crews will shut down the affected pipeline segment to repair joint leaks.
