This is an estimate, not your official bill. Last updated: 23 October 2026. The fuel and quarterly adjustments change every month or quarter.

How to use the calculator

  1. Type the units from the "Units Consumed" box on your bill.
  2. Choose your consumer type. Your bill shows if you are protected.
  3. Check your sanctioned load in kW. The total updates as you type.

How we calculate

  • Unprotected: all units are charged at the rate of the slab you reach.
  • Protected (up to 200 units): you get the benefit of one previous slab. The first 100 units cost Rs 10.54 and the rest cost Rs 13.01. Above 200 units, unprotected rates apply.
  • Lifeline (up to 100 units): all units at Rs 3.95 (up to 50) or Rs 7.74 (51 to 100). There is no fixed charge, but a minimum charge of Rs 75 applies. Lifeline homes pay no fuel or quarterly adjustment.
  • Fixed charge: your sanctioned load in kW × the slab's fixed rate.
  • Fuel adjustment: Rs 1.1086 per unit on October 2026 bills. Your bill works this out on your August units. We use this month's units as an estimate.
  • Quarterly adjustment: Rs 0.5194 per unit on September to November 2026 bills.
  • Electricity duty: 1.5% of energy cost plus fixed charges. Turn it off if your bill has no duty line.
  • Sales tax: 18% of energy cost, fixed charges and both adjustments.
  • Income tax: 7.5% of the bill if it is Rs 25,000 or more and you are not a filer.
  • The PTV fee was removed from bills in July 2025, so it is not added. Arrears, late payment surcharge and other levies are not included.
  • Homes with a load of 5 kW or more are billed on time-of-use rates, so this estimate does not fit them.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator work for every electricity company?

Yes, for homes. IESCO, LESCO, GEPCO, FESCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HAZECO, TESCO, HESCO, SEPCO, QESCO and K-Electric all use the same NEPRA uniform tariff. So the same units give the same estimate everywhere.

What is the difference between protected and unprotected?

You are protected if you used 200 units or less in each of the last 6 months. Protected homes pay much lower rates. If you go above 200 units in any month, you become unprotected.

Why does one extra unit sometimes raise my bill a lot?

For unprotected homes, every unit is charged at the rate of the slab you reach. At 200 units all units cost Rs 28.91. At 201 units all units cost Rs 33.10, and the fixed charge also goes up.

What is the fixed charge on my bill?

Since February 2026, homes pay a fixed charge for each kW of sanctioned load. It is Rs 200 to Rs 675 per kW a month, based on your slab. Your sanctioned load is printed on your bill. Lifeline homes pay no fixed charge.

Do I pay income tax on my electricity bill?

Only if your bill is Rs 25,000 or more and your name is not on the FBR Active Taxpayers List. Then 7.5% is added. Filers pay nothing extra.

Why is my real bill different from the estimate?

Your bill can include arrears, late payment surcharge, installments, other levies or a different number of days. The fuel adjustment is also based on your units from an earlier month. Always pay the amount printed on your bill.
